Lake Barkley

With 58,000 acres of water to explore, this is one of Kentucky’s biggest and most popular bodies of water. Lake Barkley was formed from the damming of the Cumberland River in 1966; ever since, anglers and boaters have been traveling from far and wide to visit this scenic and peaceful place. Popular among bass fishermen, Lake Barkley is also chock-full of sunfish, big bluegill, shell crackers, crappie and catfish.

Nearby Kentucky Lake connects to Lake Barkley and forms the 170,000-acre peninsula known as the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Several marinas and Lake Barkley State Resort Park offer cabins, lodge rooms and boat rentals and other amenities for a perfect lake vacation.
